A friend of mine recently shared that he often asks people what they think of when they consider the ‘glory of God’. Some people answered that they thought of amazing images of the universe, while others spoke of manifestations of power or even of bright white lights. In his second letter to the Corinthians, the Apostle Paul says that God has ‘made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ’(2 Co 4:4). I would encourage you to ponder that truth for a moment. Don’t you find that truth incredible? That God, by the means of His Holy Spirit has revealed to our spirits, the most perfect, most enticing and most glorious demonstration of who He is and what He is like. So where do we see this glory? Simply Paul says in the face of Jesus.
I encourage you this week to stop, to look and to listen, in order that like Jesus best friend, John you may also say, that you have ‘seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth (Jo 1:14)’
His and yours, Gareth
