At the prayer meeting on Wednesday evening, we read what would have been a familiar passage to very many. The challenge was to listen to Mark’s account of Jesus healing a woman who had suffered for twelve years before raising a child from the dead, with attentive spirits (Mark 5:21-43) We were then invited to share what, if anything, we had heard in the passage that would inspire us to pray. The result was amazing as people shared fresh insights from God’s word.
The writer to the Hebrews famously says that; ‘the word of God is alive and active’ (Heb 4:122). I am convinced that every time we open the pages of Scripture, having asked that God would speak to us, we receive the evidence of this truth. Whether we are new to the faith, or have walked with the Lord for many years, God still wants to surprise, amaze, excite, enthral and wow us through his word. Be thankful then, that we have not been given an outdated historical tome, but rather have received his living word, in order that we would better know and love the living God.
Be encouraged then this week, to dig deep into God’s word and allow him to speak to your own heart and mind anew!
