Three days into the New Year and I suspect that most of us are still keeping our New Year’s resolutions……….just! However, the truth is that even if it’s so far, so good the probability is that we will soon be aware of our frailties. Now please don’t think I am being defeatist, nor discouraging you from taking responsibility to cut down on this, that or the other. Rather, I want to see something wonderful about the grace of God revealed through these wonderful words from Lamentations 3:22-23. Jeremiah (probably), states:
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Don’t you think that is glorious? It means that we don’t have to rely on our best efforts, nor do we need to wait another whole year to begin again after we have blown it. Rather, instead of looking to ourselves for redemption, we can look to the grace of God who is the author of fresh starts and new beginnings, the source of our strength and the means of our hope.
Here’s trusting that you have a faithful and fruitful New Year.
