I was reminded this week of these words from Psalm 20. In verse 7, David writes:
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
David is writing three thousand years ago, in an age where national boundaries were even more fluid than they are today. For David and the nation he ruled, war seemed the norm rather than the exception. However, even in the midst of the conflict, we are reminded that, although others trust in their military might, we ought to trust in the Lord.
With that in mind I want to remind you as believers living in the United Kingdom that the following is true…….
Some trust in pension plans, career paths, educational achievements, successful trade negotiations with the EU, social media profile, the hope of remaining ‘in love’, the hope of ‘falling in’ love, medical breakthrough, a new exercise plan, an easy to follow diet, self-isolation or even hand sanitiser………………..but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
I encourage you to thank God, because despite the fact we live in an ever changing world, some things remain the same! Indeed the writer to the Hebrews reminds us, that ‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever’ (Heb 13:8)
Yours and His
