I am sure that we are all truly thankful for the breaking news that the first Covid-19 vaccine will be rolled out, as early as next week. We should rightfully thank God for the brilliance and commitment of scientists and medical practitioners alike. However, given that this coronavirus was never our greatest threat, so this vaccine cannot be our greatest hope. As we start our preparations for Christmas, I want to encourage you to consider again the announcement of the angel to a confused carpenter in Nazareth. The angel said to Joseph regarding the baby his fiancée had conceived, she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins”(Matthew 1:21). Praise God then for the glorious gift of Jesus who forgives us of sin and transforms our lives by his Spirit.
