I woke in the early hours of this morning with a wonderful verse in my mind. In Psalm 20:7, David writes “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.”I trust that this has been your testimony in 2020 and will be for the coming year and those which follow. Like David, we are living in turbulent times. In days where the very fabric of our society is being shaken. David acknowledges that in such times, other people would place their trust in power and authority or rely upon their own resources. He however, encouraged God’s own people to trust in him. Now when David speaks here of God, he is not speaking of any god. Rather, David is speaking of THE God. The God he refers to is Yahweh. This is the name that God revealed to Moses as he spoke to him at the burning bush (Exodus 3). It is the name of the God who keeps his every promise and fulfils his every covenant. Therefore, I encourage you this year. To continue to place your trust in the God who is present, gives peace and is eternally faithful towards those who trust him.
